Re: mirrors ns400r
There's been a rash of them on Ebay over the last week in black.
Best alternative is to buy an NS125 mirror - the head is the same - just mount it on your existing stem. Available in red and black. If you need the part number, I'll try dig it up.

A UK model NC30 mirror can also be used. Ditto for using your existing fairing mount. Good luck finding one though..Alastair wrote:There's been a rash of them on Ebay over the last week in black.

Re: mirrors ns400r
Is there any way the original glass can be removed and a new piece cut to size, slipped in ?
I did this on the VF1000 (though quite a few years back) and the results were certainly passable, and lasted a good few years.

I'd have to look in the box of bits, if there is one in there, it may need a bit of restoring

Re: mirrors ns400r
More info required on the fitting of an NSR125 mirror onto the NS400R stem.
Are the 125 mirrors really that similar?
I haven't looked closely at my mirrors for yonks so how easy will it be to do the transfer?
Needs doing as the reflective plastic that has always been on the right side since I've had the bike just isn't upto the job of seeing what is behind me.
Pattern Parts do a set for £22.82 but I doubt they are very good quality. http://www.patternbikeparts.com/product ... ctID=11527

Re: mirrors ns400r
One for Mark to answer as he's done it. NS125 mirrors also come in Rothmans blue which would look better still than black. I always thought the black mirrors looked odd.
Re: mirrors ns400r
I'll have to check, but I don't think think it will work with that mirror.
On the NS125R, the mirror bolts through the top fairing using a square fixing pin, which from memory, is part of the mirror arm casting. On the 400 it's a round pin.
The UK VFR400 mirror fits. All you need to do is remove the fairing mouting, and replace it with the NS item

Re: mirrors ns400r
Mark, do you have a picture of the UK VFR mirror so I know what to look for?
Re: mirrors ns400r
Here you go..
The NC30 mirror appears on the right.

The allen bolt holds the arm to the mounting bracket.

If you remove the bolt, the pin on the mirror arm is circular, not square as the one you have seen

However, having had a closer look at the picture you posted, where the arm meets the shaft there's a small gap indicating that it may have a round pin inserted into a sleeve. There is an allen bolt, but it looks as though it's too far down. This may just mean the shaft at the end of the arm is a little longer than the NS400 mirror, which shouldn't be a problem.

Re: mirrors ns400r
Thanks for the info folks.
Found an NS125R or was it VFR right mirror. Red plastic painted white and now quickly sprayed black.
The mount comes off easily by removing one Allen bolt. This uncovers the same round nipple that the NS400R uses.
Fix this onto the mount from the NS400R and all is well. The actual numbers/letters cast into the rear of the mirror body are identical between both the NS400R and NS125R mirrors.
I've also ordered a pair of the cheap aftermarket mirrors for an NS125R, will have to see what the quality of those are like when they arrive.

Re: mirrors ns400r
The RC30 and NS250 also used the same basic mirror but in white. There are a few new ones knocking about if anyone fancies white. Still think the NS125 Rothmnas blue one is best for a Rothmans bike.
Now when are you going to do something about those incredibly loud dayglo orange wheels Ian??????

Re: mirrors ns400r
If I could get the red paint off and leave a resonable black I would do it.
