hallo all, i have a rg500.com rad on my bike , and it is a tight fit ( as expected as it is thicker than the original one) but have and had no problems, nothing touching nothing in the way. As to the quality; 1A. it has never gone further than 1/3 of the gauge when riding, and being used to the fireblade with 178 rwhp, i tend to keep the ns in the 7 to 10 bracket, only on tickover for a long time will it raise to middle , and after a long time, will go to the top,(good 20 mins).
if you ask me, i would buy again, and i am very happy with the results,
Only one gripe though, i paid $ 100 dollars more for it

My NS runs very hot when in town or in slower traffic, almost to the top of the gauge. On the highway it seems fine at about 1/4 of the gauge. I purchased a rad when I read this post and am hoping it will solve this issue. So far my only gripe is... payment was charged to my credit card on July16th and I am still waiting, no tracking # or anything yet, it would be nice to have this before summer is over so I can see if it helps.

The solution to this is to wire in an on/off switch onto the fan. When you hit traffic you turn the fan on. The Honda fan sender unit turns on far too late. I used a pull to turn on switch which fitted nicely into the holes in the fairing mount. I doubt the ally radiator will help as the issue is not enough air getting through the radiator. It is a lovely looking bit of kit though.

Thanks Alastair a good thing to know. My rad was a bit dodgey looking though I guess the years weren"t so kind to it. The fan being about the size of a coffee cup can"t do much good can it? I was wondering if anyone had managed to fit anything bigger in there.

the trick with the switch for the fan is good ,but with the alu rad, the fan lays in the ns box of spare parts with the original rad hehe :)

So I shoulda spent $1.25 on a switch instead of $325.00 on a rad.....I hope it"s at least nice and shiney.

I carry out that mod on most of the watercooled Hondas of mine. Earlier models (the VF1000 in particular) have this tendency to overheat in traffic anyway, and additionally the detector is prone to furring up inside the radiator after a couple of years, so it doesn't always send the info at the right time (it's also a bitch to get to being on the top radiator, and if seized on, will break the rad if you try to take off to clean/replace).

Conversely the NTV650 I used this summer for the Belgium trip lets you know when it's getting a bit flustered by shedding one of the hoses from the filler loop under the tank, usually at traffic lights.

Got the rad today, looks like a quality piece, very nicely welded and manufactured, will see if I can get it installed this weekend.
